The game will feel very episodic because the story will be broken up in 3 parts. You can't honestly tell me that you can take 1/3 of FF7 and feel that the story of just that 1/3 is worthy of a FULL RPG game.
And the more invisible walls makes the open world just feel small and tacked on. If you are blocked off from all these places in one of the episodes you will what have one giant prairie with enemies roaming outside of Midgar for example? Feel like BS of the open world of FF13. You know where you finally escape the city and have this big open world, yet all it is, is just a giant environment of enemies. No point to it at all. You just then go back to city anyway. Open world needs multiple cities. A feeling of a WORLD, not just the immediate area.

Not neccesarily because the story won't merely be broken up in 3 parts. They said they would also flesh out other parts of the game as well. For example, imagine if they incorporated parts from Crisis Core into this game, to give Zack, Aerith, etc, a proper backstory. They can also incorporate content from Before Crisis, or make new original content for characters like Vincent. Final Fantasy XIII-2 ended on a clifhanger to be continued moment. It didn't feel like a noticably shorter or longer game than the standard.
As for blocking you off from places you're not supposed to go to yet, I didn't have a problem with that in the original so I doubt I would here. In fact, only seeing a glimpse of a different continent made me more excited to find out what was actually on it, as I progressed through the game. But obviously the scale of the world would be bigger in the remake. The characters won't be bigger than the towns on the worldmap. They could give us a lot of new areas to explore, to make up for the areas we can't reach yet.

That's the point though, through the game. In FF7 you were eventually able to go there.
In this broken out game, you will have to wait like a year or more for the next one to come out ot go there. And what happens when that next game comes out. Can I go back and do things in part 1. Go to areas, do sidequests, ect that i didn't finish for example. Or do I need to 100% my part 1 ad then transfer over my save?
Once I get the flying ship, can I fly anywhere in the world by part 5 or do I need to leave and reload part 1 or part 3 when I reach those areas?
