I really hope you're right, but considering the team's recent track record, I'm still worried. And I definitely agree with you about Empires! While the main games in the series have been getting worse and worse (well, it's not all downhill, but I think the series is worse off than it was during the 6th generation), the Empires games have been getting better and better (with the exception of DW6: Empires, which did have some nice improvements, unfortunately along with some bad design decisions). Open world could really add a lot to the Empires series if done properly.
