Here's the best overview of Night in the Woods I can find. (Be forewarned: it has some spoilers.) The extremely abbreviated version though is that it's a graphic adventure that thematically revolves around the danger involved with getting too caught up in nostalgia. It's both a REALLY good coming-of-age story (Catcher in the Rye kinda stuff) and also a highly poignant social commentary that couldn't be more relevant to 2017 America. Although it has some very minor design flaws (namely: the pacing of the narrative jumps from very slow to very fast somewhat abruptly about two-thirds of the way in), it nonetheless tops my list of favorites (to date) from the current year because I've never played another game that so fully captured the many varied aspects of my worldview. I was a lot like the main protagonist Mae at that age too (still am to some degree; definitely big on nostalgia), so I related to her a lot as a character. Anyway, here's that more professional and detailed overview I promised like five minutes ago. :P
