The problem is, a platformer with 25/30 on story and 0/5 on controls is completely unplayable, but will still be seen as equal to a game with 20/30 story and 5/5 controls.

You can't review a music album in the same way you review a movie. Sure, there are tracks with good videos associated, but it would be ridiculous to start off at 20% or something because they don't have any clips associated.

I don't see why one should differentiate any less between viedo games that are purely gameplay-driven and the full story/graphics experience. Video games are somewhere in between toys and movies, and depending on where they lean, they need to berated more like the former or the latter, becuase they just aren't comparable products.

You have your right to give a subjective review, they all are; but in that case, I give myself the right to review your review system.

Oh but I can. To me, the single most enjoyable thing about a game is a good story (can be funny, or serious, or something else, long as it is good). It could have amazing controls and feel completely pointless without a story (like NSMBU and Tropical Freeze). It is pure laziness and nothing else.

The review system is based on what I personally want in games, not anyone else specifically. There have been plenty of people in the past that have agreed with my reviews and plenty more that don't get my style, it is fine.

But you do have to realize that a reviewer giving a classical symphony 6/10 because he wants good lyrics in his music WILL become the laughing stock of the industry.

Also, this is my own opinion, so do not feel the need to be influenced by it, but art should not, and generally isn't reviewed for what it lacks, but simply as an open-ended cumulation of what it does well.
