While it would be great to get a Smash 5, as a long-time fan of the franchise, I think we're a few years away from that. Sakurai just finished DLC back in 2015 and the base game was done in 2014. With the exception of the gap between 64 and Melee, the gaps between the other games' releases are quite long. Unless someone else is taking the helm of the franchise, I cannot see Sakurai making a turnaround that quickly, especially with what he has gone through in the latest Smash development.
Plus, its gonna be hard to go from the roster we have now to whatever takes place next. When you think of dream rosters, there's basically very few rivals to Smash 4. Cloud, Ryu, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Sonic, and Bayonetta going toe-to-toe with Mario, Link, Samus, Pikachu, Fox, DK, etc. and with the newbies varying from old school (ie, Duck Hunt, Little Mac, Palutena) to new school (ie, Corrin, Lucina, Robin, Bowser Jr., Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina and Luma, Villager). And with the latest Smash 4 competitive major, 2ggt Civil War, showing incredible balance (ie, low-tier Link making top 3 and Capt. Falcon going runner-up), I think we're mostly set for a while.
Of course, more is great, but if Smash 5 were to come around, I do wonder if we'll be able to keep most of the roster intact, especially with the third-parties. I guess we'll see, but for now, I personally like where Smash 4 is going. It's only three years old so we may not see a new installment for a while.
