They need to focus on 2-3 products outside of PS and nail them in production and marketing like the PS4.

You barely see Sony advertise their TV, camera or personal audio divisions. It's a if they can only focus on one product at a time.

Even with their mobile phones, I think they need to look at them again and how to make and advertise them to make them more relevant. I can't see why they can't build and advertise them as the best mp3 player considering they have the Walkman reputation and keen one of the best audio divisions. They could literally make it a standard where they offer bundles where you get to pay a bit more and receive a decent pair of earphones / headphones.

What they need to do is bring all of their devices on to the PlayStation OS and PlayStation Store. They need to work togather, instead of each division competeing against one another.

For as well as they are doing the mobile branch has lost 5 Billion in the last 5 years, and their sales have went from close to 60 Million units a year down to less than 15 Million. At this point they need to ditch Android, and try something completely different. A PS4 Phone would be the ultimate mobile device they could produce right now, that sets them apart from the iOS and Android clones on the market. Even if they could only move 10 million a year, the amount of profit and future returns in massively greater than what could ever be achieved on Android.

The same thing needs to happen on the TV side as well Bravia was doing great until they brought Android on 2 years ago, and sales have dropped each year since. The Z9D (Full Array LED) and A1E (OLED) are the two best TVs on the market right now, but they are seroiusly hampered by the terrible Android TV OS. Sony should drop the PS4 APU into the TV's next year to replace the crap processor in these $5000+ TVs, and bring the PlayStation OS to them.

Basically, they need to stop using other companies OSs. This practice killed their Desktop and Laptop Vaio division, it has cost them billions in the mobile space, and it has drug down the sales of their TV division. Sony needs to unite its products around one standard in house OS, running on a standardized chip set, and all powered by apps and content on the PlayStation Store.

They need to make it feel like all Products made by Sony are their to complement each other. The best way to do this would be to wrap everything under the PlayStation brand. When you buy a PlayStation TV, it advertises PlayStation 4, PlayStation Phone, PlayStation Vue, and offers discounts on these products through the PlayStation Store. It should feel cohesive.

Sony has more potential than any other company on the planet. They have had some hard times due to the chaning business world, the internet, and Japanese culture. It seems that the changes that Sir Howard Stringer made, and Kaz Hirai has followed through with have turned the ship around. Now hopefully, they can continue to drive towards a One Sony future, and finally deliver One Sony products. A company which has its hands in Movies, TV, Games, Cameras, Televisions, Phones, Consoles, Audio, Cloud Services, Operating Systems, Batteries, and much, much more, should be able to achieve amazing things, if they are all working together.

Don't think that would work for the mobile market as they would still need to create expensive phones but people who are used to android or just want a decent phone won't buy it. It might kill their sales of completely. Besides, we've seen how Windows having their own OS didn't help them. Without the Android store they will kill any hope in succeeding in that market.

The only company that can possibly get away with it is Nintendo.
