With fact that Wii U had very limited instal base, that MK8D maybe even best and most completed MK game ever, point that will be available on MK8D on Switch already, Nintendo dont need to release MK8 on Switch, and instead they could release Diddy Kong Racing 2 and F-Zero that would definitely make Switch game offer much more diverse than MK9.
On other hand, Nintendo is very aware that MK is always huge seller, so they can also easily release MK9, but I dont see it before end of 2019. beacuse of MK8D.
I would personaly love Diddy Kong Racing 2 over MK9 when Switch already has MK8D.
