Because you said that Nintendo decided how many Switches would sell, but I had already pointed that ultimately the market makes that call, hence why the Wii U (the cited example) couldn't set records despite having enough supply to set records. I remember your thread and it was rubbish for exactly the same reason. |
Even though you disagree with my theory, you seem to contradict yourself. The WiiU had the same problem that the XB1 had. An idea/concept that couldn't be realized at the time of its release. The Switch is really the WiiU executed with the advanced technology to make the idea really work. The XB1's original ideas (always online and disc free games)at its E3 release conference were 1 generation ahead of what people were ready for. Whenever the next gen (XB2/PS5) console only itereations come (2019-2020), digital games only may be the thing.
To connect this, my point was that the WiiU wasn't a successful product because of what it was. So, as nintendo merges the 2 categories into one, they have lots of pent up demand. They literally could have made another million Switchs and sold them through. Is it inidcative that the product has a large eventual sales total? No. It is indicative of them delivering a product to fill a LARGE whole for their fanbase. So, YES, they decided how big the launch was. Of course, it was all predicated on delivering a product that did what they sold it as. Clearly, the WiiU and XB1 failed in that regard...
It is near the end of the end....
