Sony going third party is an excellent idea for gamers.

If every game, and app ever where available on every device that would be awesome.

If every game and app where only available on Steam/Windows and the App Store, hell no.

I would love to have all 100% functionallity of every piece of software and every services on my PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. I prefer the hardware, I prefer the business practices, and I believe in the vision of the company.

If you told me going forwad I could have all the functionallity ever offered in electronics but I had to use a PC and a Smartphone, then I would be done with electronics.

I also don't agree with all of your arguments. Games being cheaper is not good for gamers, it may be good for their wallets, but it is terrible for developers and publishers, and without proper funding they would have to make sacrifices in games. I also have zero faith that Sony games would be great in a 3rd party setting, as Sony does not make a lot of massive franchises like say Nintendo. Sony develops a lot of passion projects that only sell a little more than a million copies, they loose money on about 80% of their games, with the big dogs and royalties covering the losses. This would not be possible if they went 3rd party, and that would mean a huge chunck of my favorite games would no longer have a place in the market.

I agree that everyone being 3rd party would be great. I would love to see some sort of 5 year exclusive deal where Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft only offer their titles on their own platform, and then make them available elsewhere either via an internal porting studio, or via a 3rd party studio. It would be great to be able to play all games on your devices of choice, but that is the key, you have to have the option to use the devices and the ecosystem you want.
