I am not sold on the idea that there will be a dedicated handheld version of Switch. For one, it contradicts the name. And two, Nintendo will want to sell Joy-Cons and accessories to every Switch owner. I'd expect a more compact Switch that also comes with a redesigned dock; the dock doesn't add much to the system's cost anyway.

There won't be a hardware upgrade for better graphics, because there's no need for it.

Point of Switch Mini/Pocket wouldn't be just to be smaller, but to be cheaper and to have lower point for Switch, so no dock in package and built in controls, especially when 3DS dies, so smaller and cheaper Switch just for handheld play that will actualy be real replacment for 3DS totally make sense.

People dont need to look at Switch like on device, Switch will be platform something similar like 3DS (2DS is part of 3DS family but its not 3D and not even dual screen), so that means different versions of hardware that all play same games.
