Mario Kart 8 is DEFINITLY going to move systems. Keep in mind, there is only a small group of people who ever owned a Wii U. For all intents and purposes, Mario Kart 8 is a brand new game for the vast majority of Switch owners and potential owners. Not to mention, there are new features, in addition to the included ability to play the game portable anywhere. Would the game have had more an impact on sales if it was brand new? Probably. Will it still sell Switches? Absolutely.
I played Mario Kart 8 to death on the Wii U, and I'm still rebuying on Switch, mainly because of the improved battle mode and handheld ability.
