People in the west are scared of terrorists from the middle east. People in the middle east are scared of terrorists from USA. Both are convinced they are "right". Both refuse to stop. Who's the bigger threat for the world? Well the US have the most advanced army along with enough nukes to kill the entirety of humanity twice. Terrorists fron the middle east have a few Kalaschnikovs, a handful of vehicles and self-built bombs. Do the math.
