I get supporting 3DS because it's still selling, and games like Pokemon do well. But really, they need to pull the plug on it after 2017. For the Switch to fully realize it's potential, and actually be the system it could be, they NEED to put their full developmental and advertising muscle behind it. They need it to get all the kinds of games a Wii U AND a 3DS would traditionally get, and then some. Switch having games like Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing, and Monster Hunter, and Pokemon, Mario & Luigi, etc., would really go a long way. Not to mention that, for example, people who didn't have 3DS had to miss out on cool exclusives it got, even though they had a Wii U. With Switch, going forward, if they TRULY start treating it like a "Unified Platform", doubling as both a home and portable system, then that shouldn't be an issue for anyone going forward. You own a Switch, you should own the ONE system that gets all of Nintendo's exclusives, period.
And perhaps the next iteration of Smash Bros. won't be needlessly and pointlessly watered down by the development of two coinciding versions of the game (when there only should have been one, superior version of it, on Wii U).
The one thing I've always liked about the IDEA of the "hybrid console", ever since that was first rumored way back in 2014/15, is the fact that while I like and have owned portable systems, they rarely get anywhere near as much playtime out of me as home consoles, because I rarely feel like playing games on a tiny screen, or on the go. But to have the OPTION to take games I was playing at home, on the go, or "off-tv", that is a great feature.
