PS1 era was because the PS1/Saturn visuals were too limited to properly express the scene. We have not really needed that since late PS2 era Was not needed last gen and this gen ESP isn't needed. Games are advanced enough that stuff is no longer needed. So the live action of QB just becomes a gimmick and a poor one at that.

But it didn't end with 6th gen, 7th, and we still see it in 8th gen.

I think for that game, the cutscenes were fine. I wouldn't suggest it for all games.

Still got them but were not needed. Hell begining of 7th gen games like Lost Odessey promised the CGI and in game were indisguinishable. At first sounded cool but then you think then what is the point?  PS3 promised graphics as good as CGI as with the FF7 demo. We saw consoles were living up to that promise. FFXII some were praising PS2 nearly matched Advent. It didn't but it looked good enough people thought that at one point. It's a pointless gimmick.
