There's an island in the East, a ruin in the North, and a great mountain near Hataeno.
There's a reward (a real one) for completing all the Shrines, if you feel able.
I suggest keeping your eye open for unusual curiosities in the landscape and looking for similar unusual things on the map. The game is good at guiding you with these.
