I kinda feel like Breath of the Wild has instantly made just about every other open world game feel obsolete overnight, to me anyway. I revisited a few like Xenoblade X and AC IV and they just feel so static and dated now.

I feel like we've arrived at the point that as long as the game in question makes good use of its technology and knows where to use a degree of stylization to make up for the technical shortcomings of its time, it'll never look actively bad. They won't age as well as highly stylized stuff like BotW or Persona 5 (both of which look great despite having already effectively aged almost a generation), but i don't see us looking at games like Uncharted 4 in 10+ years and thinking they look bad. We don't even do that for many of the 7th gen's better balanced titles. |
8 years down the road I actually still think Uncharted 2 looks great, same for a lot of 7th gen games actually. For that matter, I still find some Gamecube games visually pleasing.

:( I can't imagine finding RE4 unplayable, it's still my favourite game of all time.
