If they were ever gonna price cut then it should of happened already, since a price cut without new game releases backing it up wont do a whole lot, and I doubt the 3DS will be getting much of anything next year. At this point it's probably not worth it since it'd probably only make a difference for a few months, then sales plummet hard in 2018.
