Don't remember all uses but you need them to upgrade the ancient armor set you need 3 one for each piece in their last upgrade, beside watching out for them in the sky , one can be found in a chest in the water at the hyrule castle docks and also by feeding dogs at snowfield stable and lurelin village , iirc talking to the woman at riverside stable when you have the master sword gets you one and I may have picked one up from a shrine .
