Here are some of recommendations (ranked). Also I would recommend waiting until later in the year when new models of the phones mentioned below, along with Note 8, and the anniversary iPhone (which is supposed to be a major update) come out: 1. Moto Z (my personal favorite phone; wait for 2017 model) Pros: -Expandable with moto mods (main reason I bought this phone) -Really thin without mods -Moto gestures and voice (primary reason why I bought this phone's predecessor, the Moto X, and a major considering when I got this phone) -Stock and lightweight Android -Supports day-dream VR -Great AMOLED display Cons: -Big top and bottom bezels -Small internal battery (there is a moto mod for this) -Mediocre front-ported speaker (there is a moto mod for this) -No headphone jack (you can use a USB-C converter or bluetooth headphones) 2. Google Pixel (wait for the 2017 model) Pros: -Great camera -Smoothest android experience -Fast updates -Great AMOLED display -Supports daydream VR -Always listening and gesture features similar to Moto Cons: -Big bezels -No optical image stabilization -Mediocre speakers 3. ZTE Axon 7 Pros: -Great price -Great specs (again considering the price) -Great AMOLED display -Supports Google DayDream VR -Has DAC for high fidelity headphones -Amazing stereo speakers Cons: -Software is not as well optimized -Does not have always-listening voice features or the advanced notification features of the Moto or Pixel 4. LG V20 (wait for the 2017 model) Pros: -Great dual camera setup -Big, vibrant LCD screen -The second screen gives you access to useful shortcuts (albeit with a caveat that I will mention in the cons) -Built-in DAC if you have high fidelity headphones -Decent speaker, albeit still a mono speaker Cons: -The second screen does not compensate for lack of shortcut gestures and does not display detailed notifications like Samsung and Moto's implementations of the always-on display. -While the monospeaker is good, it is still not quite on part with the speakers on the HTC 10 (or the older M series). |
