To answer the question in your title, no. I think that a person should buy the consoles and/or pc that has the kind of games that they want to play regardless of how well their favorite platform is doing. It's the same if a person should buy a console versus a pc. Regardless of which one someone buys, you'll never know how well the platforms will be supported so it's a gamble no matter what.
