Even when previously buying an os for other computers I've had, they've  always thrown me used keys from previous computers. Never had a problem with installing. Yeah, I've had to call Microsoft on an occassion or two they've always worked.

Of course, I was just pointing out that it may not be legal, not whether or not it would work.
