Switch is designed with price cuts and revisions in mind.  The architecture selection and use of daughter die boards for storage (rather than soldered to the board*) makes both obvious.  Year 1 cut like 3DS? Unlikely but it's almost certainly going to have way more than any previous Nintendo home console and possibly as many as their portable consoles.

* They are using a chip architecture that is not End of Life as they were using with Wii and Wii U.  The chips have already receiving an upgrade and the maker's roadmap shows more planned.  The internal storage for a console is usually in a ball grid array soldered right into the board but Switch has the storage chip in a raised daughterboard that can be removed.  This servers no purpose unless you intend to upgrade.  Toshiba, the supplier, aleady has larger chips that will fit that daughterboard.

seems like people say this about every console that comes out now.  I remember people saying "price cuts in mind" for Vita, PS4, X1, etc.

And havent Vita/PS4/XBO recieved price cuts?
