I've seen these red spinny things a couple times yet can't seem to trigger the Korok.

You have to get on top of the trunk, and something to hit with an arrow appears somewhere (usually a balloon, which is hard to miss, and other times some things that look like acorns, which are hard to see).

Ah, maybe the red ones are for acorns, I'll check that spot out again.
