I don't really know what Nintendo's policy is regarding releasing sales data, but given that the system launched so close to the end of the fiscal year, and given that they're a conservative company, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't say anything until 4-27.

Having worked in financial reporting at a publicly traded company before, I know that there are a lot of people at Nintendo preparing financial statements, the annual report, supplementary releases, and a presentation to investors right now. 

If they released sales figures, even if it was just to blow their own horn, investors and analysts would figure that into the stock price. So close to earnings, it'd be best to do that as a part of an official earnings guidance or something. And that'd only be worth doing if things weren't going according to expectations from the last time they released earnings guidance. 

So my best guess is that they're basically selling through everything they produced for March because that's in line with what was expected, and it makes sense given that A.) The system is hard to find, and B.) They're apparently increasing production.

Anyway, that's a lot of words to say that releasing sales figures is complicated for a number of reasons.
