Neither really makes any sense.

As soon as you change the form factor, the joycons aren't compatible and a new dock would likely be required. It would make more sense to sell a standalone compatible screen than a new model. Higher res on the portable is completely unnecessary.

3D Switch is the only remodel that makes any sense and that's pretty useless too.

Cutting out the left/right black bezels don't interfere with Joycon compatibility at all.

1. Nintendo isn't going to do a remodel for bezels.

2. Current joycons will be too big for a smaller screen

Higher resolution screen would make sense for a model that can run the docked performance while undocked, so that makes perfect sense to me.

- Nobody's asking for docked performance in portable mode. Battery life is more important.

3D as a craze is long since over, no one cares about that anymore.

- 3DS models have outsold the cheaper 2DS since it released. I'm of the opinion that a 3D Switch would also be capable of some sort of VR when put in a headset. I agree 3D/VR aren't going anywhere (atm?) but it's Nintendo and the Virtual Boy and 3DS are the only ingredients missing from Switch.
