Switch Revisions Are Basically Already Possible

My guess is the switch revision will expand the screen to get rid of the black bezel, but the surface area will remain constant. I'm guessing the whole reason the screen is as small as it is right now has to do with battery life.

I wouldn't expect a revision until Nov 2018 at the earliest, though.
