Dude, if the current model has a problem, you do not increase production for it.   And under your method, sales would have to be double the original projection or there is no point in startign early production on a second model because the old console would sit on shelves for twice as long as your new production model would sit in warehouses.

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense.

It's not so easy to change production quantities - costs money both to increase and decrease them. So, even if this is a gamble on Nintendo's part, there's likely a reason they're so confident.
