It's definitely the most engaging Zelda title to date, imo it's because of the sand box elements the series has always been open world but the were limited things to do in them so going massively open world and adding sandbox elements for people to play around with was really smart. It's like how GTA has many players who buy it just to mess around with the mechanics without bothering much with the story.
