No. It was a horrible idea when people posed it in 1997. It's a horrible idea now in 2017. And it'll be a horrible idea when people inevitably pose it in 2037..

I don't get, why is it always Nintendo that should go third party, and no one ever seems to pose it for Sony and MS, who have a much harder time profiting in the games industry (especially MS),  and who's games already more closely resemble many third party games?

Nintendo is the soul of gaming. Take them out of the equation and what little remains of the soul of gaming is essentially completely gone, at least for me.

And besides, do people REALLY want to see a gaming industry with a Coke vs Pepsi duopoly situation? Especially when both competitors are basically 80% the same?
