its actually not complicated to get into. Its very "Zelda-esque" despite being open world and breaking the somewhat linear progression of past games.
The thing is while it doesn't hold the players hand constantly, and allows freedom to do anything in whatever order, it DOES show you in the Map/Sheikah Slate where to go if you want to follow the suggested path. So literally if you want to handle it with a point A to point B Zelda game style, you can do that.
as far as I'm concerned the open world here serves more for having fun with the physics engine, exploring, finding things. It doesn't really effect the core Zelda play in the sense that you will easily see how to follow the suggested Storyline and dungeons
