TL:DR - The Switches cost will stop the units from being taken outside to give Nintendo free advertising of the device from friends or passers by seeing users enjoying the machine.

 

You can lock the Switch to a degree by using the parental control app on your phone with a password. It then requires you to use the password on the Switch to disable parental controls.
