Your probably right I was actually thinking about this the past week myself but I think it's more so them knowing that the digital copy is avaliabe and if people want it now they can just get it and they take a bigger cut anyway instead of fast tracking physical stock so they don't loose out on sales.
Singleplayer games really can't afford to be out of stock for a week or two imo as the market can get completely flooded with used copies as early buyers trade it back in after they finished it a few days or a week after launch whilst the value is still high.
