I had to move my wifi modem today as the cable it was connected to is compromised screwing it up more and more frequently. So now I have wifi reception for Switch in my game room, yet no longer in the living room. The WiiU sitting next to it (which has weak reception itself) still shows 2 bars, Switch zero, won't connect. Every other device works (my laptop is still at 80% signal strength) Wifi reception in the Switch really sucks. Perhaps the dock is made of some wifi blocking material...

I forgot about the wrist straps, left them in the box since launch. That explains why those SL/SR buttons are so hard to press! Hidden inside.

I don't think your wifi problems are switch related, at least not a wide ranging issue. I think you have something else going on in your environment, settings etc.

Just took the Switch out of the dock, put it close to my laptop for comparison. I did connect in this spot, my laptop shows 4/5 bars signal strength, Switch shows zero.

Switch next to my laptop gets 8.2 mbps down/ 4.6 mbps up, Laptop gets 25 mbps down / 2.3 mbps up.
Switch next to my wifi modem gets 36.5 mbps down / 8 mbps up, Laptop 47.2 mbps down/ 11 mbps up.
Switch nest to to tv docked gets 4.3 mbps down / 2 mbps up, Laptop 25 mbps down / 1.3 mbps up.

Looks like Switch has a slightly better transmitter than my laptop, yet a far worse receiver. It did stay connected this time in the dock, yet for downloads put it next to the modem!
