I don't think it's a good idea with the PS4 Pro just launching, too much hardware in too short of a span IMO, people are legitimately going to care less and less because the only main difference is going to be graphics and at some point that becomes a bit stale as a selling point.
Besides, what's the benefit here for Sony really? They'd be cuting off their legs, they have a lot more PS4s to sell this generation and a good profit margin at that.
I think fall 2019 is a better idea and they need VR to come down in price, VR is going to have to play a bigger role for PS5 because people are not going to be sold on the same the game experience just at 4K instead of 1080p with better graphics and then you're going to get into like 8K resolution and people are going to say enough is enough.
