I've seen the opposite, majority of people seem to be using it as a handheld. From my experience its a better time, feels nice in the hands, is more portable than you'd expect (as long as you're not expecting to stuff it in your pocket, which, who does that anyway, sounds like a recipe for scraping).
Obviously for multiplayer games I'll use it docked but on my own? handheld mode is pretty nice
