hmm, so good start in Japan. Not great, but good. Perhaps it could have been great if it had had more stock though? Should have made the rest of the world wait for it and ship 'em all here instead

It's pretty good.  Of course, for being the "savior" of console gaming in Japan, as Nintendo fans were calling it, it's not very good.  Less than the PS4, when the home console market in Japan is a shadow of its former self, and much less than the DS and 3DS.

the only game worth full retail price at launch sold well? who would have thought..

Meanwhile, japanese auction sites are flooded with Switch consoles that scalpers picked up to make a profit on, and barely any have any bids, and the ones that do are so close to retail price that the scalpers wasted their time.
Demand for Switch just isn't there it seems, nobody is bidding on consoles that are more than $50 over retail, which is unheard of for the week following a sold out consoles launch I'd estimate that a LOT of sales were down to scalpers picking them up, too.

I say sold out because the xbox one never actually sold out, they still had day one edition stock on shelves the last time I went into Bic Camera a few months ago.

Hmm, if true, that reminds me of the Wii U.  Scalpers weren't getting much above retail, some breaking even.  Wonder if this means demand is going to slowly fade like the Wii U's and, to a lesser extent, the 3DS's.  If so, I'm guessing we are going to be getting a price cut in ~6 months.

Edit: Oh, and @ OP

Yea, this is a very strange way for this info to break.  I think I'll wait til an official announcment.  I mean, this is like some saying they heard from a friend of a friend.  Not saying it isn't true, just seems weird.  Also, first two days?  What happened to Sunday?  Did sales drop enough to not claim bestselling for the first three days?
