The years blend together for me a bit.  That was a fun feature.  I think '95 was when they introduced roster management and trades.  I think it might have also been the year that they introduced one-timers and a few other fun things.

Maybe. I have NHL Hockey, NHLPA Hockey '93, NHL 94, NHL 95, NHL 96 and NHL '97 for the Sega Genesis, and it's hard to remember which features were introduced in which games!
