It's not a main game, but since Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest, worked on Swords, and he hasn't publicly disowned it, I think we can say it is a Dragon Quest game, just a spinoff.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
