almost 1/2 of XB1's launch and 1/3'd of PS4's. PS3 did 165k in march as well. so yes, its bad. just because it beat the WiiU (which is a disaster by its self) doesnt mean its a good launch. |
You ignoring fact that is one of UK is weakest Nintendo market in Europe, and if you actually look sales numbers of past Nintendo hardware for UK you will see that's actually decent number.
-Game Boy Advance - 67,000
-Nintendo GameCube - 69,000
-Nintendo DS - 87,000
-Nintendo Wii - 105,000
-Nintendo 3DS - 113,000
-Nintendo Wii U - 40,000
-Nintendo Switch - 80,000

Nah, I think it's a lot more relevant to look at devices launched in the past decade, the industry has changed a lot. Switch is Nintendo's only dedicated hardware device for the generation, and it sold substantially less then the 3ds that was only a part of it's business back then. PS4 - 250k XBO - 150k 3DS - 113k Switch - 80k WiiU - 40k Sure it's way better then the WiiU, but "better than the WiiU" is not the target Nintendo is aiming for. Let's also not forget that 3ds's first year was pretty awful too, it wasn't till it's price cut that it started taking off. Now comparing it to PS4/XBO isn't entirely fair considering EU is Nintendo's weakest market, but comparing it to 3ds alone is enough. This in no way means the Switch isn't going to be a huge success, launches aren't everything. But there's no denying it is not a "Good Launch" for this device and what it is meant to be. |
Industry changed, but fact is that UK is one weakest Nintendo market in Europe, and actual past years become even more relevant like Nintendo market. Only DS, Wii and 3DS sold more than Switch, and DS and Wii launched at holiday season.
Yes its sold less than 3DS, but double what Wii U sold outside holiday season is good thing. Like I wrote, not best sales, but definitely good.
