It didn't launch during the holiday season and the article says it was sold out at most major retailers and there weren't many units stuffed into the channel. So no, that's not pretty bad. It's not amazing either (the PS4 launch was amazing) but it was a solid launch when compared to other Nintendo consoles in the UK. |
WiiU's launch was disastrous. it being sold out for the most part is good, but units allocated for the market on launch might indiciate nintendo didnt see much demand for the console and opted to send units else where. either way, selling about half the XB1's launch isnt really a good number, its a market improvement over the WiiU certainly, but it isnt really something impressive.
legs are what are important now, how it holds up and continues selling. if it doesnt drop much next week and holds its legs, launch week wont be that important.
