Are you measuring the gap from console to outer edge? Because its the internal wedges we are talking about here and there is *NOT* 6mm of clearance either side.

From the internal wedges, here I've placed the system in a brightspot to highlight my point.

No way is this gap only 1mm as you wouldn't be able to look through it like this with light shining through, sorry but that's not true and read the post properly as I said 6mm clearance so at least 3mm either side, so when the unit is leaning back fully touching one side it's got a 6mm gap on the other.
