Rumble technologies on all Nintendo consoles have been optional so if it's still not your thing, you won't have to suffer through it.

Do be aware that developers are looking at ways of using it directly in the games making it a requirement.

 

Developers making games that must be played using HD Rumble is a good thing in my opinion. It means those developers like the tech and are making games around it.
