Congratulations to town, they were able to kill hitler.
The hazy minds of the time travelers were able to suddently grab a grasp of who Hitler was, and why he was their target. They were still locked up in the facitlity and after the timer runs out, another gas is released. This gas, being way more cruel than the previous one, causes them to cannibalize each other, but at least whatever is left of their minds was satisfied that they were able to kill hitler. There was one person who survived this hell, who knows who it was, their mind deteriorated, they were unable to keep their mind together and eventually Hitlers minions use him as a tool to replace Hitler.
