first the nationalists make it extremely tough for immigrants to settle into the society, place them into ghettos, give them shitty education and refuse them jobs (french "integration" in a nutshell) and then they use the results of futurelessness and hopelessness (high crime) to further advance their narrative of immigrants being incompatible with their society

So the French nationalists are to blame? I know about their only right wing party, but they've never won anything significant. How can you blame them for something they did not control.
