This was hilarious because some of your points grossly contradicted each other, at least two of them made no sense, and at least on of your points was so under researched, a picture destroyed it. I'm being overly generous by saying maybe four of your points have some point to it. To summerize what I read: [You have no intention of offending anyone with your complaints and they are poorly thought out and unresearched... but if anyone disagrees they are presumed to be an extreme diehard Nintendo fan.] I always love the defense for making irrational comments is simply suggesting that whoever disagrees is being irrational to avoid earnest criticism. |
OK! My first reply today as I said. I really don't like replying that much on my posts, to be honest. I just like to say what I want to say and let others converse on the matter. However, I think this subject is important in fighting greed. So, I am stepping it up this time! I am giving one more round of replies.
1. No power cord is a slap in the face to any customer. It is almost evil. Many agree with me.
2. The gimmick is the motion controls. Most core gamers want regular controls. This is to appeal to casuals. DVD's were no gimmick. They were practical and a viable entertainment medium that could be used by casuals and core alike.
3 and 4. I feel that Switch should have been held off for a year. Better support for Wii U and a price cut could have pushed it to a decent 20 to 25 million userbase. Being fair to their Wii U customers by giving them a true Mario Galaxy sequel and even a 2D Metroid is an afterthought.
7. Another year? Metroid fans have been asking after Other M for years. Other M was not even made by Nintendo in house, but by Team Ninja. That was wrong and changed the personality of Samus. I am a Metroid fan myself. I have played 4 of them. I want a new one too.
8. It's because of this possible fake demand that makes me want to convince others not to buy it. Even if there is no fake demand, which is quite possible, they are a multi billion company, that can afford to mass produce more just in case of huge demand. Even if Switch flopped, they would eventually sell the units and they have billions of dollars to compensate for any loss. I can only think of investors being unhappy. I feel that that is too weak of an excuse though.
9. I understand. I look forward to reading it.
10. 2DS is at a much nicer price, however, it has small screens--which can cause eye strain--, is much uglier IMO, can't fold to protect the screen, and lacks the important 3D capability. I feel that a price cut to $150 for 3DS XL would still earn them profit on mostly aging technology. Even 169 would be a nice gesture.
11. Actually, the Directs made me want to get a Wii U. I still plan to get one, mainly for Virtual Console, and it's Wii compatibility. There are a few Nintendo brands that I like, too. Waiting for the price cut that never came was a waste of time. Sadly, I know my purchase will lack support for the most part, now. I will buy used for this lack of respect for millions of Wii U purchasers.
12. But many games will require the whole Joycon set to play a game. Only certain games will only require one. Each part has different features.
13. I understand what you are saying here, but Switch is using weaker hardware. If it is not even as powerful as Xbox One, has no Blu-Ray drive (ultra HD or full HD), and has no hard drive, then how can they justify the cost with no pack in game?
14. OK, this is not the 1900s. Digital downloads have become a norm. If you live in a remote area, physical may be a tough option. Plus digital has no taxes and saves money. If there is a 50% off deal online, you will miss out.
Okay. I'm not assuming you are a blind diehard. I don't know you, so that wouldn't be fair. I try hard to be fair. I mostly went on memory over research. As for the headphone jack, I questioned it myself. I read another user saying something about no headphone jack, and just mentioned it as a possible point.
I concede to being partially wrong and not doing proper resesrch. I didn't know the Wii U controller was so expensive, for example. However, I think they could have cut the price after 2 or 3 years to $250, as costs generally go down for parts over time. That would have given them a competitive edge.
So, overall, I think I was more right than wrong, and the poll agrees. Maybe Nintendo will be wise and do a $50 price cut and pack in a game after 6 months, but as it stands, I feel they are being too greedy. They also badly need to cut that pro controller price. We will see if I am wrong about their future decision making though. I will admit any wrongs if I am wrong. Thanks for commenting!
