I, myself, was never a big fan of Obama. There were things, like that (among others) that angered me about him. In my lifetime, I have never been happy with the president in office. So I am holding no double-standard here. And unfortunately, people that do defend Trump will use that article as an excuse to justify what he is doing now. In reality though, like you said, what Trump and Obama did was not okay -and neither can be used to justify the other.
