if you've seen the guts of the system, literally Nintendo has put in the largest and best battery they possibly could have. There is no more space. Unless you're suggesting doing a much larger form factor for the device, but people already complain that its a tad bit too big too put in their pockets and carry around (need a little bag/cover).

As for the power- a lot of you are vastly underestimating the power of the Switch. for a portable it is extremely powerful. There are very few portable devices on the market, tablets or otherwise, that are capable of running the sort of software the Switch will be without overheating into mush.

also, realistically, if you're hoping for a 'deluxe' Switch version with specs closer to like the PS4, that would be astronomically insane for a handheld. It doesn't currently exist. Even if they did create it it probably would end up over a 600$ price point. Bear in mind you are extremely limited in space internally for a tablet this size (the Switch is essentially a smaller range tablet) and that the more powerful the device the harder to keep it cool and the more difficulty in maintaining battery life

my problem with this thread is it suggests that its an easy "Oh, if there was a better Switch would you buy it?" when anyone who has seen the leaks of the guts of the system OR read up on it much at all should be aware that in terms of the battle between SPECS + battery + space under the hood, they did virtually the best they could for a 300$ price point

Bear in mind that the name brand tablets that come out at like 500$ are considerably weaker hardware wise than the Switch (although obviously in turn they focus on web browsing / office apps rather than demanding programs)

The only way to accomplish the OP's suggestion/question is to either make the Switch considerably larger (killing its portability), and/OR raising the price to most probably over double (if the suggestion is to somehow get its specs more competitive with the current model systems)

In the end threads like this are illogical because they seem to undermine what the Switch is- its a hybrid with quite impressive specs for something you can carry around with you. It already is fairly aggressive in terms of visuals, far beyond the Vita (the closest comparison), and a giant leap past the 3DS (possibly the biggest leap between any handheld generation).

The concept that Nintendo could just easily bring out a deluxe version with a better battery and specs is completely illogical because the system would have to be both much larger would end up astronomically more expensive

if a company could come out with a PS4 level handheld gaming device in the 300 or 400$ price range they would have done it. Its just not feasible, too much heat and not not enough space for a portable.

Maybe in a few years

I see a lot of these illogical posts that seem to act oblivious to the limitations that a handheld device has. There is no "Lets make it a PS4 level handheld!". if the PS4 was 400$ at launch, then what do you think a handheld 5x smaller with PS4 level specs would cost at launch? use your brains please
