When I bought the 3DS, I remember being (somehow) completely ignorant about it all. One day i chose to go to Target and they supposedly had the $80 price tag the day I was interested in getting one. I might wait again and see if there are any interesting deals again. I'll happily pay $300, but I might wait and see. Preorders are gonna take up all of march+April's units, so I'll have more than enough time to ponder.

The internet couldn't tell a fork from a spoon. The PS2 was $299.99 and we all know how that ended. Anything under $299.99 is a great deal but $299.99 is still the sweet spot. Not too expensive for the mass market but not too cheap so as to lose money. 

 

$300 woud be a good price for a console that was better than PS4 and Xbox One, but not so much a console that's barely better than an Xbox 360.
