I don't think the promise should have been made in the first place. For all intents and purposes the Wii U has been dead for the last 12 Months. Turning over a new leaf and letting go of that dead carcass of a console would have been the move that says "We are Completely that our last attempt was a failure and we are fully commited to the vision that we believe corrects that 100%"
Hanging on to the Wii U is a sign of weakness and lack of confidence.
