I wonder if they are deliberately high to get people buy a second Switch.

Additional Dock-$90

Set of Joy Cons-$80

Joy Con Grip-$15

Total-$185

For only $115 more you can get a whole second system.

When you look at it like this and subtract the price of the accessories coming in the box with the console... that doesn't leave a whole lot of the budget for product to go into the actual hardware of the device, just thinking of the argument about the X1 coming packaged with the Kinect 2.0 by default which was in effect taking away some of your cash at the counter which could have gone towards making a more powerful console from the get go.

Not that I think the manufacturing costs of things like "hd rumble" or a hdmi cable costs anywhere near what is being asked for the switch branded versions of same mind you. Still with all things taken into account if you were to see a Switch and New3DSXL on the shelf next to each other (one without a power adapter even so all the cash goes on the console) then it wouldn't be too strange to think how much more powerful the Switch would have been if features like HD rumble were not a costly addition which may not be used as much as say... more processing power in the unit.
